The Historic District had been plagued with many floods until 1993 when the flood wall was completed.  Thanks to the efforts of many, the buildings you will see have been saved and restored over many years.  Many of the structures pre-date the Civil War.  Come and enjoy the architecture as well as the shopping.	You will notice that Hannibal has many fine examples of 19th century homes in many architectural styles.  Many of these great homes were built by lumber barons.  If you come for a visit, be prepared to traverse the many hills of Hannibal.	This district runs from the 800 blocks of Center and Bird Streets to Maple
